What is HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air)?
HEPA filters are primarily used in spaces where air quality is of particular concern, like hospitals, laboratories, HVAC systems, airplanes, air purifiers, and even some vacuum cleaners, and then also in environments where allergens, pollutants, or airborne particles can affect comfort, health, or equipment performance. HEPA filters, unlike basic air filters which simply remove larger dust particles, are constructed with densely packed fibers that filter much smaller particles as air flows through the filter.

The purpose of HEPA filters is to provide the most efficient filtration for small airborne particulates. They aim to remove a multitude of allergens from the air such as dust, pollen, mites, animal dander, smoke, and so on, to the maximum benefit of indoor air quality.
In terms of building and construction, they are often used in environments which demand an increased degree of dust control, contamination prevention, and air-cleanliness, especially during renovation or sensitive indoor work.

- Healthcare Facilities: During a hospital renovation, temporary HEPA filtration units may be installed near construction areas so as to prevent dust and airborne contaminants from spreading into patient spaces.

- Residential Spaces: A homeowner with allergies may use an air purifier with a HEPA filter to reduce pollen, dust, pet hair, and other airborne particles inside their home.
