What is Air Vent?

An air vent is a grille or opening built into a structure to move air in and out of a space, keeping interiors ventilated and livable.

Definition

Buildings generally have two types of vents: supply vents, which push conditioned air into the space, and return vents, which draw the stale air back out. Air vent filters over the grille. Air vent cleaning is just as important as maintaining the equipment itself. They trap dust before it is pulled into the system. Size and placement affect how well a room heats, cools, and breathes.

Purpose

HVAC systems without vents can’t push or pull air. This leads to uneven temperatures, rising humidity, and poor air quality. Cleaning the air vents is as important as the equipment. A blocked grille makes the system work harder. It also increases energy costs and allows allergens to build up indoors.

Examples of Use

Residential Homes: Conditioned air is distributed to each room by floor and ceiling vents. This maintains even temperatures and prevents dampness.
Commercial Buildings: High occupancy loads in offices and retail floors require frequent air turnover and larger vent networks.
Attics and Crawl Spaces: Passive vents let hot or moist air out before it can rot or damage the structure.
Bathrooms and Kitchens: Exhaust vents pull out steam, odors, and grease-laden air at the source.
